Time Magazine recently featured the Agricultural Research Service in their special issue on technology and innovation. What a weird place for all sorts of cool stuff to come from:

1. frozen foods
2. DEET bug repellent
3. permanent press
4. Diapers
5. Lactose free milk
6. Oat fiber fat substitute
7. transgenic cows

The cover article leads with a chicken-feather-to-structural-plastic-like fiber story. It's weird, but cool.
